I moved to Easley in 1997 from a small town called Painesville, Ohio. It's about 30 miles NE of Cleveland on lake Erie. The second day I was here, I thought I would take a walk down Main St. in Greenville to check out a location for a restaurant. Now remember, this is 1997 and there wasn't much on the south side of the bridge. There were, however, some fine restaurants popping up on N Main and I was amazed at the impressive and daring menus they had. The other remarkable thing was how metropolitan the city was. The people were so friendly and very chique. Fall for Greenville was just getting going and I was blown away by the quality of the production and the many restaurants involved! Fast forward to now and Greenville continues to reinvent itself. It just keeps getting better and better!. Fall for Greenville is now enormous, and you can barely get to all the booths. I have been to most of the restaurants in Greenville and I am still impressed at how knowledgeable the servers are and how cutting edge and eclectic the food is. I owned an upscale restaurant near Cleveland and frequented the fine restaurants in and around the Cleveland area. I have also been to restaurants all over the country and I would put the restaurants in Greenville up against any in the country....that's how hip they are. This place is amazing and I love to take my family to ball games at Fluor Feild or just take a walk down Main Street. Whenever we have guests or family from out of town, we go to Downtown Greenville. We take them to falls park, go in the fountains, try to find the mice, and visit Mass general. When I am out of town I don't even brag about Greenville to strangers anymore for fear we will be overrun. Now, when our guests return, it is they who ask to go to downtown Greenville. It truly is a surprise of a city and I'm happy I was blown away with my first visit, and every visit since.

I was blown away by skills, compassion & pride of our Physicians and Nurses here at Wallace Thomson. As a first time healthcare employer I never realized how much the medical staff truly cares for their community and patients. Wallace Thomson Hospital is an excellent healthcare facility and the Union, SC community is very blessed to have them!

I was blown away by the opportunities for growth by both children and adults. It has so much to offer culturally and economically. There's always something to do and learn in the Upstate!

Our family moved to the Greenville area 18 years ago. We have throughly enjoyed raising our 2 children in such a wonderful, safe area. We have seen first hand the growth of the area and the many recreational, cultural, entertainment, and just plain fun things to do in our city. There is always an event going on, such as, Fall for Greenville, the Greenville Drive Baseball games, concerts at the Peace Center, races, or just taking a leisurely walk across the Liberty Bridge by the Reedy River. I am in real estate and I have told my clients what I have told my husband for years..."If you move...send me Big Checks...because I am not moving"! But, our little secret is getting out with Greenville being listed as the 4th best place to live. I continue to be "Blown away" by Greenville and look forward to many more wonderful years here witnessing the positive growth.

My wife and I moved to the Greenville area almost 30 years ago. At that time, Greenville was starting to make a transition from being the "textile capital of the world" with a manufacturing base to a more technical and professional based economy. With a comparatively low cost of living, reasonable tax rates, low unemployment, continuing education opportunities, friendly people, a moderate four season climate, and a beautiful area in the foothills of the mountains, Greenville proved to be the perfect area to continue our careers and raise a family. Now, as grandparents approaching retirement, we appreciate the cultural and entertainment opportunities in a diverse economy that we are proud to call home.

When I first drove into the city of Greenville on I-385, one of my first thoughts was "wow, so this is why they call it Greenville"! Trees were everywhere which is unusual that close in to a city. I eventually moved here from another upstate city and there was no comparison. Greenville wins hands down on everything. It is my pleasure to live and work here helping families relocate to our wonderful area and local people buy and sell homes.

I was blown away almost 15 years ago when my husband and I came to Table Rock on vacation. We are originally from Eastern North Carolina, 30 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The Upstate was such a contrast to what we were used to. I fell in love with the mountains and lakes. I was so impressed with the friendliness of the people. We would be driving along and people in the opposite lane would wave! We finally got it, they were JUST BEING FRIENDLY. So impressed were we that we went back to North Carolina, put the house up for rent, made week-end trips back here, found a place, got the utilities turned on and within 6 months, we were South Carolinians. Unfortunately, my husband was killed in a boating accident on Lake Jocassee less than a year after we moved here, but this is so much like home to me, I stayed, first in Anderson County, then moved to Greenville. Greenville's growth has been phenomenal, 15 years ago, Woodruff Road was more trees than traffic. I'm just amazed at how Greenville has grown and how cosmopolitian it has become. Downtown makes me smile. There is an atmosphere there that makes me feel like I'm in Europe. Wonderful! The South Carolina of old, at least here in the Upstate, is fading away. The sterotypes associated with the South, and especially South Carolina, is a thing of the past and may it stay there. Just walking around downtown and seeing the racial and cultural diversity proves that and I AM STILL BLOWN AWAY!!

I came here for a job in a local firm about 2 years ago. Six months earlier we had relocated from Florida to Charlotte. An anticipated job there fell through after we relocated. I was in dire need of employment and I applied here without even knowing what Greenville looked like. I got the intereview and we drove over here for the first time. I was blown away by Main Street and by Falls Park. This is what a downtown is supposed to look like. Tree-lined sidewalks. Lively festivals. Attention to historic preservation. And lighting up the trees on Main at night time brings a sense of "belonging" to the soul. We belong here! This is where I want to live the rest of my life. I can't tell you how many people have visited us and have been stunned at how pretty this little city is. And the other thing I was blow away by is how progressive the city planners have been. I have been finding articles about how run-down Greenville was in the not too distant past. Too embark on such a bold and courageous plan is truly something to be proud of.

Ten months ago, I relocated to Greenville from a mid-sized town 40 miles west of Boston. I was retiring and wanted to be closer to my grandson, daughter and son-in-law who have lived here for 10+ years. I absolutely made the right choice and I just love the upstate. In addition to the beauty of the entire area, the lower cost of living and the weather, the offerings are diverse. I have met wonderful people through joining the Newcomers Club and enjoying their many events. I have taken several courses at Furman University through their Learning in Retirement program. I have enjoyed multiple types and styles of restaurants, the beautiful library system, the Art and History Museums and so much more. This past week-end was a great example of local choices. Thursday, I attended a Larkins Rhythm on the River event for $5 - a musical group playing beach and 60's music in the outdoor amphitheatre overlooking the Reedy River. On Friday, it was downtown for a free blues singer at a Main Street venue. Saturday morning my grandson thoroughly enjoyed the "Touch the Trucks" event for free on Main Street as part of the weekly Farmers' Market and a free interactive model train show at the Cultural Center in Mauldin. Sunday, the family walked Main Street and the beautifully landscaped Reedy River Falls Park downtown. How can it get any better?

I was blown away by everything that Greenville and the Upsate have to offer a young professional couple looking to start a family. From the natural beauty of the surrounding area, to the countless fine dining options throughout downtown Greenville, to the low cost of housing in Greenville there is truly something for everyone. We moved here from Southern California and haven't looked back since. We have found our home...Greenville offers Southern Hospitality mixed with modern urban renewal. We are so glad we found this area!
